2013 Pedal for Paws ride
Well, it was not an "official" race, but many of Team BC attended the 2013 Pedal for Paws ride in Gallatin.
Here are some photos. I heard that they had over 400 riders!

Race Schedule Changes
I noticed some more schedule changes for TBRA races. One really sucks because they moved the Hamilton Creek mtb race to May 25th which is the same day as the BEast of the Southeast. And they put all three events (TT, short track, and XC) in the same day!
They also moved the Highland Rim classic to September 7th and 8th! That will be different.

Tuesday Sprints
Weather looks pretty good for some sprints this afternoon! I have to be at another event so I can't be there today, but most people who have been there know the drill.
So meet at the Madison Creek Elementary school at around 5:15pm. Here is the Google map link http://goo.gl/maps/lj1Uo. North of Goodlettsville off of Long Hollow Pike, turn on Madison Creek rd. School is on the right.
If you get there later, just turn right out of the parking lot and go down to the 3-way intersection. You can wait there for us to pass or turn right and meet us on the route.
If you are thinking about doing the Cedar Hill Criterium Race this Sunday, it would be some good practice!
Here is a link to the race flyer if you need it https://s3.amazonaws.com/USACFlyers/FL_2013-1235.pdf
Have fun!

Chickasaw and Hell of the South Races
That was the 2nd worst MTB race I have ever done. (Yes, I did have one that was even worse!) I had mud caked in places where you don't want to know.
But first, Hell of the South. Looks like Schupp dog lowered the hammer with a win in the Elite Masters group! That is awesome! Mike Riley, Nate Lelek, Doug Hardin, Seam Samber, and Josh Cook were also there representing Team BC. Way to go guys!
For the Chickasaw Mudfest, Craig killed it with a 2nd place in the Pro category. Smokin'. Loved the rear fender! Got Milk?
Michael Edens had a nice 3rd in the Cat 1 30-39.
Eric Bateman also took 3rd in Cat 2 19-29 as well as Kevin Ray holding onto 3rd in the Cat 2 30-39 with Mark Chubb placing 4th.
James Buckingham thew up a 1st in the Cat 2 40-49. Awesome James!
And most respectably, Kara Lewis got 3rd and Marsha Williams 4th in the Women Cat 2! Sweeeeeeet! Unbelievable job ladies!
Hopefully I did not leave anyone out.
A special thanks to David Ansel and Travis West for all their support!
Enjoy the Spring weather this week!

This Weekend 3/23 and 3/24
Big racing weekend coming up!
Saturday - Hell of the South road race in Berlin, TN. Here is the link http://hellofthesouth.wordpress.com/
I hear the the Cat 5 race is already full, so unless you can get in another category you may have to sit this one out. But you can always show up for support!
Sunday - Chickasaw MTB Race in Columbia, TN http://www.columbiacyclingclub.com/mtbflier2013.htm
This is always a fun race and very well done. Usually lots of good prizes!
We should have a good turn out for these since they are close to home! Lets do this!

Tuesday Evening Sprints at Madison Creek
Unlike the weather yesterday, today is looking pretty good for some circuit race style sprint action!
We had a good group of riders last week (7 or 8 I think) for the 1st session. I hope everyone can come out again!
And as I mentioned before, you advanced riders can try in on the MTB! Craig about blew his tires up last week!
Might want to throw a blinking light on the back of the bike too.

OK guys and gals. This Sunday is the 1st official TBRA MTB race at Booker T Washington State Park in Chattanooga. The word is that it will be run backwards this year. Here is a link to the website for all the details. http://sorbachattanooga.org/wordpress/?p=3171

This Weekend
The final Snake Creek Gap race is this Saturday and the weather looks to be typical with some possible snow. All of you guys going are just awesome. Bring back some buckles and trophies!
Sounds like it was a great shop ride last weekend. The weather this Saturday looks pretty rough right now with rain or snow and of course cold. Is there any interest in a shop ride Sat morning? A snow ride might be fun!
I added some photos from the last race http://teambikerschoice.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_16.html

Club support
Time for Bikers Choice Sponsorship work... Below, I have invited two local clubs to come to a tour from Bikers Choice. Cameron is leading the 30 miler and Kyle is leading the 60 miler. If any of you would like to help teach how to change a flat clinic at 8 am, let me know. Otherwise, I would like it the team could make a half way descent showing and hang with our ride leaders. The routes are listed below. We also might be able to add a few new riders to the road team
Thanks
David
Bikers Choice Hendersonville would like to host a bike clinic and self supported bike tour for you club/group Saturday the 23rd.
At 8:00am. we will host two clinics, a "how to fix a flat clinic" and a "How to do routine maintenance clinic".
At 9:00am, Kyle Taylor will lead a Metric Century Metric Century
At 9:15 am, Cameron will lead a Half metric century.
We encourage everyone to ride at their personal touring pace and hope that people will create multiple groups at speed averages between 14-and 19mph. We recommend parking in the Back lots of the 699 building and anywhere at BC.
Some good pre-season tips for you to study up on are at

Thurday Night Short Track
Alright race dudes and gals,
It's that time of
the year to start lighting it up and I think it's time to start the fire
with some Thursday night short track races. Here's the suggested format
we will try to go with this week....Use the baseball/football/soccer
field on 12th ave south, there is a "hill", flat field and trees to use
as course. Do several 3-5 minute efforts. Regroup and recover for a few
minutes and do it again. The format is almost exactly like our old crit
practice nights, except we will be on the dirt. Bring your xc or cross
bike. These will be great training and will benefit everyone greatly for
race season and xc starts. ALL levels are welcome, men and women, and
feel free to invite others...the more the merrier! I would
like to try to get started by seven-ish if possible. Finally,

This Weekend
Looks like there is a group driving down to Oak Mountain this weekend for some trail time. I believe that some are going Sat morning and some on Sunday only. Contact Josh Lewis or Edens if you are interested. If you have not been to Oak Mountain, it is a great trail!
For the roadies, there is a group going to Chattanooga again for some climbing on Sat. We will be including Lookout Mtn this time, so if you need to get some extra wheezing in on those lungs, this is the ride for you! We will be leaving the Hend/Gallatin area around 8am. Contact me if you are interested, kev-ray@comcast.net
Since most will be out of town Saturday, I don't think there will be a shop ride in Hville, but some of the shop "dudes" may still be around for an early AM ride.
Have a great weekend!
PS - Today is Valentines Day, Kroger's and Publix will be busy this afternoon!

Racing Licenses and info
I was reminded by Steve Capps that if you plan on doing any racing this year, please renew or apply for your 2013 racing license. Most of you probably know the drill. Here is a link with all the details.
http://www.usacycling.org/usa-cycling-license-information.htm
In summary, to get either a Road racing or Mountain bike license, the initial cost is $60. If you want to do both, then the add-on cost is $30.
Beginners can always do a one-day license which is $10 per event.
For those new to Road racing, the categories are Cat 5 (beginner) to Cat 1, then Pro
Here is a link that gives more details
http://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=580
For Mountain bike racing, Cat 3 (Beginner) to Cat 1, then Pro
http://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=2134
Note, that the beginner class inboth road (Cat 5) and mtb (Cat 3) DO NOT receive any points.
Correction: Mtb Cat 3 racers with a annual license DO receive team points, but not individual points.
In all other classes, you will receive some points for every race. Of course if you place higher you will receive more points. This is especially important so Team BC will get more points as well.

Sunday Morning Ride 2/10 From Station Camp High School
Is this where we post this stuff so we don't spam everyone on the email list?
I'm going to try to ride tomorrow before the rain starts. The plan is to leave out of the Station Camp High School parking lot at 9:00 AM. Distance will be 40-50 miles, base (aerobic) pace. If anyone wants to join me, see you there.

This Saturday
So, the weather looks pretty good for this Saturday and there may be a few options for rides.
It sounds like there will be a group going to Montgomery Bell for some trail riding. Not sure of the time. You can contact Michael Edens to verify.
As far as a road ride from the shop, I will not be able to do an AM ride, but I will be able to do a 1pm ride. If you are interested, contact me. We may pick an alternative starting point depending on who wants to go. I am thinking 3 to 3.5 hrs (55 to 60 miles?)
Also, I have heard that there is a "Bootleg" road race down in College Grove, TN that starts at 10am. Here is a link with the details https://twitter.com/hellofthesouth/status/299533724729630720/photo/1
What ever your flavor, get out and enjoy the decent weather!

This Saturday 1/26
It's looking pretty cold for this Saturday with a high of 40, but dry. So hopefully we can still get in a ride.
What I would like to do is lead a "B" pace road ride, but possibly start at 1pm. The "A" pace guys can decide when they will ride or they can join us.
We can try David's 54 mile route. It has all the local climbs on it so we should keep warm.
http://ridewithgps.com/users/112181?referral_hash=-1102841454946044273
Be ready to ride at 1:00 PM from the H'ville shop for a "B" pace ride (16 to 17mpg avg). We will be doing many of the local climbs and stopping at the top to regroup. See you then.

Saturday Rides - 1/19/2013
The weather looks good for this weekend so far, so I would think that everyone would be ready to ride this Saturday.
So, what is the consensus? H'ville shop ? MJ Shop? MTB trail? All three?
I will be attempting to ride Saturday, but I may have do a short route.
I suppose we can try the same routes that I had planned for last Sat.
55 mile route http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2054989
33 mile route http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2054994
I think that David prefers we start at 8am so the "dudes" can get back to work.
**Matt confirmed - 8am start at H'ville shop. One group will be going 4 hrs, but there will probably be a group going shorter as well**
Remember, that you can reply to this blog post in a comment that will not be emailed out to the google groups list.
Hope to see you this weekend.

Blog use
Just some housekeeping stuff..
Post anything you like as long as it is cycling related. Selling bikes or bike gear is fine, just don't make it your own personal ebay!
Keep it clean please!
When you get the invitation, you will have access to make new posts. For each post anyone can make comments to the post. So you don't have to make a new post every time if it is the same subject.
There are lots of links to on the right side that you can check out. Ride routes, websites, photos, etc.
Also you will see that there are other "pages". Right now there is a "Team Roster" and "Videos" page. Make sure to make a post with your racing bio and a photo so I can update this team roster list.
Thanks.

Hey Guys,
Not sure if this would be the best option. But it may be an alternative to always using email or the Google groups mail list.
